Attic Insulation in Las Vegas

In a Las Vegas summer your attic is the hottest part of your property, and it sits directly above your living space. Insulation and ventilation decide how much of that heat your air conditioner has to fight.

Insulation and roofing are one system

Attic temperature is set by the roof assembly, the ventilation and the insulation together. Adding insulation to an attic with blocked ventilation traps heat against the deck, which shortens the life of the roof above it.

What we install

Blown-in insulation for open attic floors, batts where framing and access call for it, and air sealing at the penetrations that leak conditioned air into the attic. Depth is measured and recorded, not estimated by eye.

Ventilation correction

Intake at the eaves and exhaust high on the roof have to be balanced. Most of the underperforming attics we see have exhaust vents and almost no intake, so very little air actually moves.

Doing it during a re-roof

If your roof is being replaced, that is the cheapest moment to correct ventilation and top up insulation, because the access is already open and the crew is already there.

Frequently asked questions

How much insulation should a Las Vegas attic have?

Current Nevada energy code calls for substantially more attic insulation than older valley homes were built with, so many houses here are well under it. We measure your existing depth and tell you where you actually stand.

Will more insulation lower my power bill?

Reducing heat gain through the ceiling reduces cooling load, and the size of the saving depends on your current insulation, your ventilation and your system. We will not quote you a percentage we cannot stand behind.

Do you remove old contaminated insulation?

Yes. Insulation with rodent contamination or water damage is removed and disposed of before new material goes in, because burying it does not fix it.
